On Thursday, Glenn Thomas Kauffman was arrested after being accused of sexually assaulting two 10-year-old girls. He has resided in Orange County since 1981, and he currently lives in Laguna Nigel.
53-year-old Kauffman has been a financial professional for over 20 years. He is a widower with three children, and since 2014 he has served as a UC Irvine Alumni Association board member. In addition, Kauffman coaches a girls softball team in Laguna Niguel.
While prosecutors maintain that Kauffman’s position in the softball league may have granted him proximity to minors during the time period when the alleged assaults occurred, the defending Orange County DA did not disclose whether that was a factor in how he met the victims.
A criminal complaint reported that the alleged lewd acts took place during a three-year period spanning from 2014–2017. An investigation to discover whether there are more victims is ongoing at this time.
Kauffman attended his arraignment on Monday for charges of two felony counts of lewd acts with a minor. He did not enter a plea. The accused is being held on $1 million bail, and if Kauffman is convicted of all charges he could face life in prison.
