It was reported that for the past 8 months, people in a residential neighborhood in Daytona believed one of the men in the community was allegedly stalking their youngsters.
The 55-year-old man allegedly acted inappropriately toward a dozen children in the area where he lives in. He reportedly filmed the youngsters as he drove past them while they were playing outside. He additionally allegedly yelled comments at them using a bullhorn loudspeaker.
Eleven reports were filed with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office about separate incidents.
The father of a 6-year-old girl said that his daughter was harassed by the man on several occasions, and the interactions were disturbing. He said the man would approach his daughter while she was playing and make comments. The man reportedly did this many times, and the things he said were perceived as inappropriate and unsettling.
The man was reported as saying he would take the child to Disneyland. On a separate occasion, he reportedly told the youngster that he was going to make her “a big girl” and “a woman.” Her dad also reported that the man told her he would make her famous.
The authorities noticed the pattern of the many reports they received over the months and decided they would open an investigation.
On September 2, the police tried to go to the suspect’s residence to discuss the allegations, but they did not connect with him.
The following day, the authorities returned to the home and took the man into custody.
After he was arrested and booked, the suspect was housed in the Volusia County Jail. He is facing charges of felony aggravated stalking involving a person under 16 years of age. He was held in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
