A Florida woman contacted the authorities after months of alleged ongoing harassment from her former boyfriend that reportedly escalated into stalking and intimidation.
According to a probable cause affidavit, sheriff’s deputies responded to a home in Parkland on the afternoon of January 28. They met with an adult woman who said her ex-boyfriend had been repeatedly contacting her in unwanted and disturbing ways. She reportedly said the two dated for about two years and had broken up roughly eight or nine months earlier.
The woman told investigators that the alleged contact began as attempts to reconnect. She said her ex reached out, saying he still loved her and wanted to get back together. She reported that, over time, the behavior had become more aggressive and frequent. For several months, she was allegedly bombarded with text messages, handwritten letters, and social media messages.
She reportedly said that whenever she blocked his phone number or online accounts, he would contact her again using different numbers or profiles. At one point, she claimed the messages included a threat toward her new boyfriend.
The situation reportedly escalated earlier this month. The woman said she found a handwritten letter in her driveway that she believed was left there in the middle of the night. Inside the envelope, she allegedly discovered multiple letters along with a live 9mm bullet. The letters reportedly focused on regret over the breakup and repeated requests to reunite.
Days later, the woman said she received an alert on her phone indicating a tracking device was moving with her. She reportedly located an Apple AirTag attached to her vehicle after triggering a sound from the device.
According to deputies, the woman also expressed concern that her ex had access to a handgun and had made troubling statements in recent letters. Investigators later reported that the man admitted to sending the letters, including the bullet, and placing the tracking device on her car.
The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Broward County Jail. He is facing preliminary charges of aggravated stalking and installing and using a tracking device without consent. At the time this was written, he was being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
