A man from Perry County has been accused of being involved in a situation involving rape and child pornography after it was discovered that he allegedly sexually abused an 8-month-old baby.
21-year-old Zachariah Wicker lives in Perry County, Ohio.
Though the circumstances which led to the authorities investigating Wicker were not released, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), and Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) got together with the Perry County Sheriff’s Office to look into the man, who they believed was involved in sexual offenses involving a child.
Late last Sunday afternoon, the authorities purportedly had collected enough incriminating evidence to obtain a search warrant for Wicker’s residence, and they went to his home in search of anything to support their assertions against him.
Due to the reportedly incriminating evidence collected during the investigation and the search of Wicker’s home, the man was taken into custody due to the posit that he was involved in a situation involving child pornography and child rape against an 8-month-old. His relation to the baby was not disclosed in the reports.
Wicker is facing charges for suspicion of first-degree felony statutory rape, and he was booked into the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail where he is being held in lieu of a $1 million bond.
Child Protective Services worked with law enforcement and it was reported by the Morgan County Sheriff that they all acted quickly “to ensure this victim is now safe.”
If Wicker, who reportedly has no prior criminal record, is found guilty of the charge he could spend up to 11 years in prison in addition to being ordered to pay a $20,000 fine.
