A 31-year-old Colorado man who was working as an Amazon delivery driver through a third-party service was arrested after allegedly attacking a receptionist at a Lakewood dental office.
On the afternoon of December 15, the driver arrived at Emerald Dental in Lakewood to drop off a package. Instead of leaving after the delivery, he allegedly grabbed the 21-year-old woman at the front desk, tried to kiss her, and pulled at her clothing. Witnesses reported that he also grabbed her inappropriately. The woman fought back by hitting and kicking him when he reportedly lifted her from her chair. He then allegedly struck her multiple times.
A patient in the office said they heard someone screaming and rushed to help. They reported seeing the man, wearing an Amazon vest, pulling at the woman’s dress. When the patient tried to intervene, the driver allegedly punched him. A male dental hygienist intervened, and together they tackled the man to the ground and held him until police arrived.
Officers described the driver as being in an altered state. He reportedly appeared confused, was growling and sweating, and claimed he was in Texas. He also told the officers he couldn’t remember what happened.
The dental office owner said the staff and patients were shaken up by the incident, and she closed the practice for several days. The receptionist reportedly suffered a broken nose, two black eyes, and possible strangulation marks during the alleged encounter.
The man was taken into custody and booked into the Jefferson County Jail. He is facing multiple preliminary charges, including sexual assault, unlawful sexual contact, second-degree assault, third-degree assault, two counts of criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, and harassment. At the time this was written, facility records showed that he was being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
Amazon confirmed that the driver was delivering through a third-party service and is no longer working with them. The company is cooperating fully with the investigation.
