Baby Found Sitting on Live Maggots in Stroller

A Kentucky couple is facing charges after the police reportedly discovered their child sitting in a stroller filled with live maggots and narcotics.

Late in the morning on May 24, a couple was reportedly seen pushing a stroller near an abandoned home in Madisonville. The person who noticed them became concerned and called the authorities.

Officers from the Madisonville Police Department went to the location. They spotted a man and woman with a stroller and believed it was the same couple the person called about.

It was reported that when the officers got close the man ran away. They spoke to the woman, who was later identified as the child’s mother. The stroller reportedly had bags hanging off it, and the police alleged they contained illegal narcotics and paraphernalia, in addition to prescription medication for the child. The woman informed the officer that the bags were not hers.

The police wanted to ensure the child was unharmed, and when picked up, they found live maggots under the spot where the youngster was lying.

The child’s mother was taken into custody and booked into the Hopkins County Jail in lieu of a $2,500 bond. She is facing preliminary charges of one count of first-degree wanton endangerment, one count of trafficking methamphetamine, one count of trafficking synthetic drugs, and one count of possession of paraphernalia.

The next day, the man was located, and he confirmed he was the baby’s father. He also said the bags they found attached to the stroller did not belong to him. He was jailed in the county lockup on preliminary charges of one count of first-degree wanton endangerment. He is being held on a $3,500 bond.
