Boss Spiked Employee’s Drink with Power Steering Fluid

The boss of an employee was accused of pouring power steering fluid into an employee’s beverage, causing the man to need urgent medical care.

On June 5, at ETE Reman, a company in Wisconsin that manufactures transmissions, an employee showed up just before 2:00 pm to work his shift. Before starting the day, he put two drinks into the break room freezer. When he took a quick break to quench his thirst, he grabbed the iced tea. When he took a sip, he believed the top had a foreign substance on it, and the drink had a strange odor. He became ill and believed it was from the beverage. The employee told his coworkers about the situation. He also informed his boss, with whom he reportedly had an adversarial relationship since he began working at the facility.

The alleged victim went to urgent care, and when human resources learned about the incident, they decided to check out the security footage to see if anything revealing was captured. The footage reportedly showed the man’s boss in the breakroom standing by the freezer with two bottles of iced tea. It also appeared as if he poured some of the contents of one of his bottles into the employee’s tea. A bottle resembling the one the boss reportedly had was found in the trash, and it was believed that it contained the remnants of steering wheel fluid. A representative from human resources spoke to the manager about the incident. He allegedly said he and the employee worked out their issues and that he was trying to play a prank.

The following day, the man was taken into custody. He is facing a preliminary charge of placing foreign objects in edibles. He was released after posting bond.
