Children Beaten with Extension Cords for Misbehaving

A Florida couple is facing charges after being accused of abusing their two youngsters by beating them with extension cords during Thanksgiving break.

Two women, ages 46 and 43, reside in Homestead with their 7-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter, who both attend school at Laura Saunders Elementary.

According to reports, when the kids went back to school after Thanksgiving break, the boy refused to remove his jacket. One of his teachers asked him what was going on, and he reportedly said his mom told him to leave it on.

The teacher became suspicious, and they reported the situation to the school counselor. The youngster was sent to the school nurse, and when his body was checked, it was reported that he had open wounds that looked like cuts on his arms. His sister reportedly said their mothers hit them with electrical cords when they got in trouble.

The authorities were notified, and they viewed the cuts on the boy’s arm. The girl showed them her injuries, and they recorded that her legs and back had welts, scabs, and scars. She reportedly told them she was unable to sit down comfortably because of the pain. When she was asked about the circumstances, the girl reportedly said her moms hit her and her brother when they got in trouble. The most recent incident reportedly occurred when they were coloring during Thanksgiving break, they were allegedly told they were misbehaving.

On November 30, both women were taken into custody for the allegations. They were both booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. They are each facing preliminary charges of two counts of aggravated child abuse. The 43-year-old was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond, and the 46-year-old’s bond was set at $15,000. According to the jail website, they have both been released.
