Drug Laced Lasagna Sent to Pregnant Woman Leads to Arrest

An Iowa woman was recently arrested after the authorities alleged she delivered a pan of lasagna that had been laced with a controlled substance to a family with the intent of causing a pregnant woman to miscarry.

According to a statement from the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office, deputies began investigating the incident in early January after receiving a report that a family-size tray of lasagna had allegedly been contaminated with a drug. Detectives from the sheriff’s office, working with multiple agencies, launched a lengthy investigation into the claim.

During the investigation, the authorities obtained and executed several search warrants to determine who was responsible for preparing and delivering the food. Investigators allegedly discovered that a 36-year-old woman and another individual had worked together to place a controlled substance in the lasagna before it was delivered to the family on December 28, 2025. Officials said the household included a pregnant woman.

According to the authorities, internet search history recovered from the suspects’ devices showed discussions about planning the incident. Investigators concluded that the plan was intended to cause the pregnant woman to suffer a miscarriage.

The pregnant woman reportedly had no knowledge that the food may have contained a controlled substance and did not consent to receiving it.

Authorities said the lasagna was submitted to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation’s crime laboratory for testing. The analysis reportedly confirmed the presence of oxycodone.

Investigators also learned that the suspect reportedly shared custody of a juvenile child with a person related to the pregnant woman. The juvenile was allegedly aware of the plan but reportedly opposed it.

Based on the evidence gathered, the authorities arrested the woman and booked her into the Winneshiek County Jail. She was reportedly held on a $100,000 cash-only bond while facing multiple felony charges, along with an additional misdemeanor charge related to child endangerment
