An intoxicated man from Nashville may face severe legal penalties after he was reportedly discovered in a stranger’s apartment in the middle of the night.
On November 14, a woman who resides in a Nashville, Tennessee apartment complex reportedly secured her dwelling before turning in for the night.
The woman had fallen into slumber when she was allegedly awakened by a jarring sound.
Since she was unsure of the source of the loud noise, the woman sat up and was reportedly unexpectedly greeted by a man in a black hoodie that was standing in her bedroom.
The alleged intruder exited the room, and the woman reported that she concealed herself inside her closet to try to prevent herself from being harmed.
The alleged victim called the Metro-Nashville Police Department, and they sent officers to the woman’s apartment. When they arrived, the officers reportedly discovered that the man was still in the woman’s residence.
When talking to the man, identified as Juan Ramos-Castro, 28, the police reported that he chose to briefly speak with them about the situation after he was read his rights.
Ramos-Castro reportedly disclosed that he had been out on the town drinking with his friends, and he had gotten too drunk.
After one of his buddies gave him a ride to the address, Ramos-Castro said he walked into the residence through a door that was not locked, and that he used to live in the building.
The man, who other tenants confirmed used to reside in the complex, chose to stop talking after reportedly telling the police that he saw the woman when he went inside the apartment.
When looking at the door that Ramos-Castro allegedly used to enter the residence, the police reported that it looked like the man had kicked it in to gain entry.
Ramos-Castro was taken into custody and booked on a $10,000 bond, but it was determined that he would not be allowed bond release due to a detainer put in place by ICE.
He is expected to face charges for aggravated burglary for the allegations.
According to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement website, “Detainers are placed on aliens arrested on criminal charges for whom ICE possesses probable cause to believe that they are removable from the United States.”
