DUI Suspect Busted in “I’m the Reason the Beer’s Always Gone” Shirt

A Florida man wearing a tee shirt that says, “I’m the Reason the Beer’s Always Gone” was arrested after he allegedly drove nearly double the speed limit with triple the legal BAC.

On the evening of August 14, a man driving a pickup truck was allegedly speeding in an Ocala neighborhood with a 45 MPH speed limit.

An on-duty deputy from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office was using radar to check for speeding drivers, and they clocked the pickup truck’s speed at 89 MPH. They tried to pull over the driver, but the man reportedly turned off the lights and attempted to escape.

Before long, the deputy was able to catch up and stop the driver. When the officer initially spoke to the man, they said he smelled like he had been drinking alcohol.

The driver, who was wearing a shirt with the phrase “I’m the Reason the Beer’s Always Gone” on the front, was cooperative with the officers. He reportedly agreed to take a roadside sobriety test, which the police said he failed. When he learned he was being arrested, the man became agitated.

The man took a breath test to determine his blood alcohol level, and the results reportedly showed he blew.204 and .20.

The 41-year-old suspect was booked into the Marion County Jail. He is facing preliminary charges for DUI and felony fleeing to elude a law enforcement officer, in addition to being cited for driving at an unlawful speed and possession of an open container in a vehicle.

According to jail records, at the time this was written, he was still incarcerated in lieu of a monetary bond. The next hearing for his case is scheduled for September 19.
