A woman who is employed at an Edmond, Oklahoma, elementary school is facing charges after she was allegedly discovered using and carrying methamphetamine on the campus while working.
Amanda Greenfield is a 42-year-old woman who works as a teacher’s assistant at the Will Rogers Elementary School and she has been employed with the district since 2014.
Early in the afternoon on Tuesday, May 15, school authorities notified the local police when they noticed that Greenfield was acting in a way that suggested she was under the influence of an altering substance.
Police arrived at the school and found Greenfield in the principal’s office where she was reportedly ranting incoherently. When the officer approached her in order to find out what was going on he allegedly discovered that her eyes appeared dilated and she was very fidgety.
From her physical appearance and behavior, the officer believed that she was under the influence of meth and interviewed Greenfield to learn what was going on. She allegedly disclosed that on the previous day before work she had used the drug and that she had been unable to sleep all night. She also purportedly disclosed that she was carrying drugs in her backpack at the time and she agreed to allow the officer to inspect the contents.
Methamphetamine, marijuana, and paraphernalia were allegedly found when the officer went through the backpack and Greenfield was placed under arrest.
Greenfield was booked into the Oklahoma County jail and she is facing charges of public intoxication, possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The school announced that they have made the decision to allow Greenfield to continue her employment while the investigation into the charges is ongoing.
