A woman who operates a Florida fentanyl rehabilitation center was arrested for allegedly selling drugs to the patients at the facility.
50-year-old Misty Leigh Gilley is the manager and owner of Simply Recovery LLC in Altamonte Springs.
The website for the facility says they aid with many aspects of recovery, including medication maintenance and management.
A man who was reportedly a client at the clinic recently alerted the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office about his allegedly illegal experience with Gilley.
The patient reported that he had been on the path to recovery, but he stumbled and wanted to use drugs. He claimed Gilley sold them to him.
An investigation was opened, and undercover agents began to connect with Gilley.
Two confidential informants reportedly arranged meetings to purchase drugs from the woman. The initial alleged buy took place at Simply Recovery, and the second was reportedly at her residence.
The authorities arranged to search the recovery facility, and they reported that they found a host of items they believe she was using in the illegal distribution of narcotics.
It was reported that baggies, both empty with residue and containing substances, were discovered. The police asserted that they contained cocaine and fentanyl. Hypodermic needles and tissues with what appeared to be blood were allegedly found in the trashcan.
The authorities searched Gilley’s home, and they reported that they located additional drugs.
Gilley was taken into custody. She is facing charges for suspicion of possession of fentanyl with intent to sell, possession of opium with the intent to sell, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, and using a phone to facilitate a felony.
She was released from incarceration after posting a $49,500 bond.
