Man Arrested After Failed Attempts to Rob Restaurant and Bank

A Florida man was arrested and charged after he allegedly tried and failed to rob a bank and a fast-food restaurant.

On August 5, an employee at a Wendy’s restaurant in Melbourne was at the customer service counter when she was approached by a man. Instead of placing an order, he allegedly told her to give him the money from the cash register. The employee believed he had a firearm, and she froze in fear. When one of her coworkers came to see what was happening, the man quickly left the restaurant.

Later that day in the City of Palm Bay, a bank was visited by a man wearing a face mask and a hat. He allegedly went to the counter and attempted to rob money from the financial institution. Again, he fled before he was able to obtain any money.

The authorities reviewed the surveillance video from the bank and believed they knew the suspect’s identity. They additionally believed the same man was involved in the attempted robbery at Wendy’s.

The police searched for him, and on August 15, law enforcement officers from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit located the suspect. When they searched his person, they reported that they found him in possession of a large knife. When they inspected it, they noticed that it had a handle that they believed the Wendy’s employee had confused for a firearm.

The man was taken into custody and booked into the Brevard County Jail. He is currently expected to face charges for one felony count of robbery with a firearm, and one felony count of robbery with no firearm or weapon. He is currently in custody in lieu of a $20,000 bond.

The Palm Bay Police Department is considering charging the suspect as well.
