Man Brutally Beat Wife after Virtually Viewing her Affair

A purportedly angry husband who received a video call from his wife allegedly savagely assaulted her after he claimed she was having sexual relations with another man while chatting with him.

34-year-old William Alexander Atkinson is from Cumberland, Maryland, and he has been married for approximately 3-years.

On September 21, Atkinson reportedly received a FaceTime video call from his wife. The man said that she was inside a parked car in the lot of a hotel.

While they were talking, Atkinson believed his wife was being sexual with a man. He reportedly felt she was trying to instigate him.

Atkinson reportedly notified one of his friends and asked for a ride to the location.

When they arrived, Atkinson allegedly saw the man he believed was having an affair with his wife. Before the pair got into a confrontation, the man fled from the area.

When Atkinson and his wife interacted, the man allegedly began ruthlessly attacking her. He reportedly caused her many injuries by striking and kicking her.

A bystander believed they heard a gunshot amid the ruckus, and the authorities were notified.

When police went to the reported location, they said the woman was hysterically crying. They noted in the police report that she was bleeding from her nose, and her face was bruised.

According to the police, Atkinson had blood all over his shoe. They asserted that it came from kicking his wife in the face.

After he was Mirandized, Atkinson reportedly discussed some of the details of the incident. The man reportedly told the police that he slapped his wife, but did not kick her or discharge a firearm.

Atkinson was transported to the Somerset County Jail. He was booked and charged with felony aggravated assault, and misdemeanor reckless endangerment. His bail was set at $30,000.00.

The alleged victim was reported as being very drunk, and the authorities had to handcuff her to bring her to the emergency room for treatment.
