Man Could Spend 100 Years in Prison for Drugs and Fraud

A man in Texas is facing charges that could lead to a conviction of over 100 years in prison after the authorities alleged that he was fraudulently in possession of over 50 pieces of mail and other information in different people’s names.

According to jail records, a man from Bryan, Texas, was arrested on April 9 for allegedly stealing a vehicle, fraudulently possessing identifying information, and carrying less than a gram of drug. He was released from custody the following day.

Approximately one week later, the man found himself in trouble with the law again for several additional allegations. It was reported that on the evening of April 16, he was riding around on a moped. The authorities were notified by someone in the area who reported that a man on a motorbike was harassing people.

Officers from the Bryan Police Department went to the location. They saw a man sitting near a moped, and he was going through the items inside a bag. It was reported that when the police tried to interact with him, the man started to walk away. He stopped after they threatened to zap him with a Taser.

The man was identified, and it was discovered that the moped he was sitting near had been reported stolen. The bag he was looking through was assumed to be his, and the officers reported that it contained mail, bank account numbers, and other information in the names of over 50 people.

The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Brazos County Jail. He is facing many preliminary charges, including first-degree felony fraudulent use or possession of 50 or more pieces of identifying information, felony unlawful use of a vehicle, felony evading arrest with a previous conviction, and third-degree felony possession of between 1 and 4 grams of methamphetamine.
