Mom Provided Alcohol at Grad Party and Teen Was Sexually Assaulted

A mother who hosted a party at her house on Friday for her son’s graduation has been charged after an underage girl reported that she had been the victim of a sexual assault. The woman had additionally allegedly bought liquor for the guests and allowed marijuana use at the celebration.

Dana Fowler, the mother of a son who just graduated high school, threw a party at her house to commemorate the special occasion. Of the people in attendance, several of them were reportedly under the age of 21.

41-year-old Fowler allegedly purchased alcohol for the party, and she was said to allow the attendees to smoke marijuana.

On the Monday following the party, a teenager notified the authorities and told them that she had attended the party at Fowler’s residence and during the time she was there she was the victim of a sexual assault by another guest.

Detectives opened an investigation and upon interviewing some of the people who were at the party, all of which were under 21-years-old, they were informed that Fowler allegedly did buy the alcohol for the guests to drink and that some of the people were reportedly smoking pot. Deputies are still unsure about how many people were at the party but they are still investigating. They stated that charges may be issued to some who took part in the consumption of the liquor.

On Friday Fowler was arrested and faces a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She is being held in lieu of $1000 bond, and she is scheduled to appear in General Session Court on June 8. If Fowler is convicted as charged she could receive a sentence of up to one year in jail.

An investigation into the details regarding the reported sexual assault is ongoing.
