Salon Customer Held at Scissor Point Over Unpaid Bill

A hairdresser in Tennessee was arrested after allegedly forcing a customer to stay in the shop by holding scissors to her face and demanding that she pay an extra $50 for the services she was given.

When a woman scheduled an appointment for September 13 at the Luv My Hair Salon in Memphis, she was required to submit a $50 deposit, and then use the Zelle app to pay the hairdresser another $410 for the services she received. She agreed to the terms and submitted the down payment.

She went to the salon as scheduled, and the woman sat down with the hairdresser. When working on her hair, the stylist informed the customer that she would have to pay an extra $50. The mention of the additional cost caused a dispute between the women, and things escalated quickly.

According to reports, the hairdresser forced the woman to stay seated by informing her that she was holding a pair of scissors near her face and said she would not be permitted to leave without making the full payment. The stylist allegedly locked the door and refused to let the woman, who reported that she was afraid for her life, leave the salon.

The customer called the authorities and told them what was going on, and the police asked to speak to the hairdresser. They told her it was against the law to lock the woman inside the shop, causing the stylist to open the door and let her go.

On October 9, the hairdresser was taken into custody and booked into the Shelby County Jail. She is facing preliminary charges of aggravated assault and false imprisonment. According to records, she was released after posting a $7,500 bond.
