Suspect Tried to Sell 4-Year-Old at Kentucky Gas Station

A man accused of trying to sell a 4-year-old boy at a gas station in Corbin was sentenced last week after pleading guilty to accusations.

Last Sunday, 29-year-old Harry Day was at the Speedy Mart gas station in Corbin, and a 4-year-old child was accompanying him.

Two of the patrons at the establishment encountered Day, and they were each offered the child if they agreed to pay the man $2,500.

The authorities were notified about the situation and given a description and plate number of the white Nissan that Day was driving. They were additionally told that a black child was a passenger in the vehicle.

Using the information they were given in the report, the police said they located the address where they believed Day might reside.

When they approached home, the state troopers reported that the youngster was in the house with his mom and appeared to be unharmed.

After a search of the inside of the dwelling allegedly revealed that methamphetamine and paraphernalia were in the home, Day told the authorities that he had used drugs that afternoon.

The child’s mother, identified as Gertrude Henson, 26, allegedly said she had used meth that day as well.

On August 17, Day pleaded guilty to promoting human trafficking of a child under 18, and DUI, and he was given a one-year sentence. He is currently housed in the county detention center.

Due to her purported involvement in the incident, Henson was taken into custody and booked into the county detention center, and she is facing charges for suspicion of two counts of child endangerment, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
