Teen Sesame Place Worker Assaulted Over Mask Rule

When a teenage employee at a Pennsylvania theme park asked a couple of guests to wear face masks, the worker was allegedly assaulted by the patrons and left with serious injuries.

On August 9, a 17-year-old was working his shift at Sesame Place children’s theme and water park in Middletown Township.

Since the governor has put a public face-covering mandate in place, the establishment is asking guests over the age of 2 to wear masks in all areas other than in the water, and while eating.

The worker reportedly saw a man and woman, assessed to be between 20 and 30-years-old, without anything covering their faces, and he approached and asked them to comply with the rules.

Late in the afternoon, the worker again encountered the couple and asked them again to put on face coverings.

The couple reportedly responded angrily, and they allegedly began hitting the teenager, who eventually fell to the ground after being punched in the face.

It was asserted that the alleged victim needed medical intervention for his injuries, and he was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center where he was diagnosed with a dislocated jaw. The teenager will need surgical intervention to fix the damage that was reportedly done during the altercation.

When the authorities watched security camera footage from inside Sesame Place, they said that it appeared as if the pair was in the park as a part of a large group that was hanging out together.

The police believe they know the identity of the suspects, who they asserted are New York residents, and they are working with local New York law enforcement so that they can apprehend the alleged offenders.

The teenager involved in the incident was reported as expected to make a full recovery over time.
