A Florida state trooper was accused of partaking in sexual acts with an underage girl after her parents discovered she had written in her journal about the purported events using vivid details.
The mother and father of a girl who is now 15-years-old recently came across their daughter’s journal and decided to take a peek at the contents.
While they read the girl’s writings they allegedly discovered what they interpreted as an indication that she appeared to be taking part in a sexual relationship with an older man.
The girl’s parents notified the authorities based on what they had read and reported that they believed their daughter had been involved with the man since last September when the girl was still 14-years-old.
When the teen was asked about the situation she reportedly assured that she was a willing participant in each sexual encounter with the man.
The suspect accused of partaking in the alleged physical bond with the teenager was reported as 23-year-old Riley Marcus Schwarz; a trooper who held the position in the state of Florida for less than 24 months.
When deputies spoke with Schwarz about the allegations he reportedly told them he and the girl had sex approximately nine times, and that all but one of the encounters had taken place inside of her house.
Schwarz, who was released from his job due to the accusations, turned himself in on Saturday. He is facing charges of two felony counts of lewd and lascivious battery involving sexual activity with a victim 12 to 15 years of age for his suspected sexual relations with the girl.
In the state of Florida, 18 is the age of consent for sexual relations, but couples who are close in age may be exempt as long as the minor is 16 or 17-years-old, and their partner is age 23 or younger.
The department has given their full support toward investigating the allegations, and the Captain labeled Schwarz’s behavior “reprehensible.”
Schwarz was released from custody after posting a $20,000 bond.
