A man was taken into custody after allegedly walking into an LDS church filled with people and taking off all of his clothing in front of the mixed-aged crowd.
40-year-old Jeremy David Miller lives in St. George, Utah.
On the morning of July 18, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was holding a morning service with approximately 100 worshippers in attendance.
Miller reportedly approached the house of worship in his Jeep. The man allegedly drove onto the grass before stopping the car.
When he emerged from the vehicle, Miller was allegedly only wearing underpants.
The man reportedly began heaving belongings from the truck all over the lawn, and he allegedly shed the remainder of his clothing.
Miller reportedly walked into the church with a child’s safety car seat and slammed it down, disturbing the sacramental tray and water in the process.
When the authorities began to receive calls from inside the church, people reportedly said that they felt concerned for their safety and believed the man might begin to shoot a gun.
Miller returned to his vehicle and left the premises before the police arrived at the church.
After taking statements from people at the scene, the officers located Miller’s address and went to the residence.
When they began to interact with the man, Miller allegedly resisted the officers by struggling and shouting obscenities until they were able to detain him in handcuffs.
Miller was placed under arrest and booked into the Washington County Jail. He is expected to be charged with five counts of lewdness involving a child and one count of assault on a police officer, criminal mischief, failure to stop at the command of law enforcement, and disorderly conduct.
