Woman Arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Vanilla

Connecticut authorities have alleged that a woman they took into custody for suspicion of driving while intoxicated was the result of her drinking vanilla extract.

50-year-old Stefanie Warner-Grise was reportedly out in her vehicle on Wednesday when her car was seen stopped in the middle of an intersection.

Someone called 911 to report that they saw a woman with closed eyes behind the wheel, and the car was not in motion though it was sitting in the center of the road. When the authorities responded they reportedly discovered Warner-Grise was the driver of the automobile.

The cops approached the vehicle and as they tried to talk with her Warner-Grise allegedly showed signs, such as slurring her words and what was perceived as an inability to communicate with them effectively, of drunkenness and they reportedly smelled the scent of vanilla on her breath.

When they searched the vehicle the police reported that they discovered many bottles of pure vanilla extract that were missing their contents.

When taking roadside sobriety tests, Warner-Grise allegedly did not perform any of them to the satisfaction of the officers and they determined that she was intoxicated from imbibing the contents of the bottles they found, which are required to have at least 35% alcohol by volume in order to be labeled as pure extract in accordance with the FDA.

Warner-Grise was arrested on suspicion of DUI for allegations that she was partying with the ethanol-laden solution while operating a vehicle. She is being held in lieu of $250 bond.
