A Florida woman is facing many charges after she allegedly pulled out a gun in a fast-food restaurant’s drive-through over a dispute involving a free cookie.
At approximately 11:00 AM on February 16, an employee of McDonald’s in Altamonte Springs was working the drive-through window when a customer placing an order began to argue with them.
The woman, who was driving a blue Chevy, reportedly believed she was supposed to get a free cookie. When she was not immediately given the pastry, she reportedly became angry.
The manager tried to talk to the woman and make the situation right by offering her a free cookie. It was reported that the woman was still dissatisfied, and she continued to scream and fight.
According to the manager, the woman retrieved a handgun, and they believed it was loaded. The woman left the drive-through window, and the employees rushed to try to lock the doors. After parking her car, the woman allegedly got inside the store through an open door. She reportedly pulled the manager outside and hit him before she left in her vehicle.
The authorities were notified, and officers with the Altamonte Springs Police Department performed a traffic stop on a blue Chevrolet driving close to the restaurant. The driver was identified as the woman suspected of causing the cookie chaos.
The police reported that they found a loaded firearm in the vehicle, but the woman told them she never keeps it loaded.
The woman was taken into custody and booked into the Seminole County Jail. She is facing preliminary charges of 2 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, resisting an officer without violence, battery causing bodily harm, and a weapon offense for improper exhibition of a firearm or dangerous weapon. She was initially held without bail, but a judge set her bond at $30,000. If she is released, she is not allowed to have firearms or ammunition, and she is not allowed to return to the McDonald’s location.
The workers at McDonald’s said they were afraid when they saw the firearm, but the woman did not threaten them with the gun, and it did not seem like she aimed it at any of the people.
