Woman Saved from Attacker by Calling 911 to Order Pizza

When a man allegedly took drugs and tried to sexually assault a woman in a field, she was able to alert the authorities about the situation by pretending she was ordering a pizza.

Early in the morning on October 19, a man and woman in Pierson, Florida, went into a local field to hang out and have a few drinks. According to reports, things went south when the man began using cocaine. He allegedly started to get aggressive and reportedly began trying to force the woman to have sex with him against her will.

She found an opportunity to use her phone and pretended she was ordering a pizza, but she dialed 911 instead. The dispatcher confirmed the call was legitimate and began collecting information to give to the police. She said she was unsure of her location, and while she asked for a pizza with pepperoni and extra cheese, the woman was asked if she was injured. She confirmed that she was, and the dispatcher asked if the man had a weapon. Her location was tracked, and deputies from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office headed to the field to find her.

As they searched the field, the deputies heard music and headed in the direction from which it was coming. They reported that they also heard a woman screaming. They came across the pair, and the man was allegedly on top of her.

The suspect was taken into custody and held in the Volusia County Jail. He is facing charges of attempted sexual battery, battery by strangulation, and false imprisonment. Since he is believed to be undocumented, the U.S. Border Patrol issued an immigration detainer, and he will be turned over to ICE.
