A group of people in Portland are facing charges after the police learned they were allegedly operating a business called Shroom House where they sold magic mushrooms.
According to reports, a store in Portland, Oregon called Shroom House opened its doors to the public on October 24. The shop reportedly sold magic mushrooms to the public.
When the authorities learned about the establishment, they reportedly had two undercover agents visit and purchase just over an ounce of mushrooms. The fungi allegedly tested positive for psilocybin.
The police reported that when they searched the premises, they found more than $13,000 in cash and approximately 22.1 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms.
On the morning of December 1, the man listed as the owner of the business was taken into custody and booked into Multnomah County Jail. He is facing charges of 10 counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance near a school, 10 counts of money laundering, 10 counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, and 10 felony counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
The alleged manager of the establishment was also arrested and booked into the county jail. He is facing the same charges as the owner for his alleged involvement.
Since they are both from out of the area and purported to be a flight risk, and it is believed that they have additional money hidden, the judge set the bond at $1.5 M each.
The alleged owner has not entered a plea, but the manager pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Two additional people who allegedly worked for the shop were accused of delivery of psilocybin, and they were each given a citation for the charge.
