2 Arrested When Drunk Man Drove to Wife’s DUI Wreck

A Kentucky man was arrested for drunk driving when he allegedly loaded his children in the car and drove to the spot where his wife had reportedly caused a DUI-related accident.

William and Jessica Routte live with their children in Elizabethtown.

On the evening of October 13, Jessica was reportedly in her vehicle, and she was allegedly in an accident due to driving under the influence.

After the alleged wreck, the woman reportedly left the scene and crashed into a telephone pole before she decided to call and ask a tow company to retrieve her car.

Jessica reportedly notified her husband, who had also allegedly been drinking, and asked him to come to the scene.

William reportedly loaded the couple’s two children into his van and drove to the location his wife had issued to him.

Before William arrived, the authorities were already there, and it was reported that the man showed several signs of intoxication.

When the police looked inside his vehicle, they allegedly discovered approximately a dozen miniature bottles of liquor, one of which was still unopened.

The police asked William if he had been drinking, and the man reportedly told them he had a beer and a drink with hard alcohol about 5-hours before driving.

When William’s blood-alcohol content was collected, it was assessed to be .238, which is nearly triple the legal limit allowed for operating a motor vehicle.

Jessica reportedly openly disclosed to the police that she had consumed a large quantity of alcohol, and she was placed under arrest for suspicion of first-offense driving under the influence of intoxicants.

William was also taken into custody, and he was charged with two felony counts of wanton endangerment and first-offense driving under the influence of intoxicants.
