Two men in New York were arrested after allegedly violently attacking a 75-year-old man who spotted them as they were reportedly stealing over $100,000 worth of motorcycles from a business next door to his shop.
Just before 4:30 AM on August 13, a man took his dog for a walk as he went to open his New Hyde Park flooring store. When he arrived at his business, the 75-year-old spotted two people at Gold Coast Motorsports next door. The pair were reportedly in the middle of stealing motorcycles from the shop when they noticed that the man was looking in their direction.
The two 27-year-old men allegedly approached the flooring store owner and started brutally beating him. They reportedly dragged him across the ground and refused to let him leave. The man was able to stand up and physically defend himself a little, but ultimately the pair allegedly continued attacking him. When he finally got away, the man notified the authorities, and an investigation was opened.
The police spent approximately two months collecting details and potential evidence, and they reported that they viewed footage of the incident. The motorsports store also reported that five motorcycles worth a total of $150,000 were swiped on the night of the alleged attack. The suspects were identified, and on September 8, law enforcement went to their residence in Brooklyn.
Both men were taken into custody on suspicion of one count of second-degree burglary, one count of second-degree kidnapping, and two counts of second-degree assault. At their arraignments, it was ordered that they would each be held in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.
It was reported that the alleged victim is still recovering from the trauma of the incident.
