A woman was taken into custody after being caught on video allegedly making a scene at an American Airlines counter and throwing a computer at an employee.
On the afternoon of December 20, a woman and her two youngsters flew from Alabama to the Miami Airport to catch a connecting American Airlines flight to New York City.
The woman missed her flight, so she was scheduled for another one.
When she went to the gate to check in, the woman spoke to the counter employee when she noticed that her children were no longer in sight. She became very concerned and allegedly screamed at the agent, demanding that the woman help her to locate her kids.
The interaction was caught on video, and the footage allegedly showed the woman grabbing the ticket reader off of the service counter and ripping it from its affixed spot.
The video also shows the woman picking up a flat-screened monitor and throwing it in the direction of the agent while she continued to yell. The agent was reportedly struck with the monitor, and her shoulder was bruised when it hit her.
The children were located, and it was discovered that they had gone to the bathroom without telling their mother.
The authorities were notified about the woman’s behavior, and a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer detained her until the Miami-Dade Police arrived.
The woman was placed under arrest and booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail. She is facing preliminary charges of aggravated battery, criminal mischief of $1,000 or more, and disorderly conduct/breach of peace. She was incarcerated in lieu of a $4,500 bond.
According to reports, the woman caused an estimated $10,000 in damage at the airport.
