According to reports, the home of a 23-year-old man in Spring Hills had been on watch since March when the authorities became suspicious that drugs were being sold there.
On October 24, deputies from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office went to the house. When the resident came to the front door, they said the air filled with a pungent stench of what they believed was marijuana.
It was reported that the man denied that the home was a marijuana growing site. He also allegedly said he had a roommate, but he did not provide any personal details about the person, and the police suspected he was not telling the truth.
The man allegedly picked up his keys and something the deputies identified as a marijuana cigarette, and he asked if he could leave.
The police looked around inside the house, and they allegedly found many packages of what appeared to be popular types of candy. The print on the labels was similar to the regular brands, for instance, “Skittlez” instead of “Skittles.” They also allegedly found 2 guns, 24 pounds of marijuana, 10 ounces of cocaine, Xanax, and 90 pounds of hashish.
The suspect, who is a convicted felon, was arrested and booked into the Hernando County Jail. He is facing many charges, including trafficking cocaine, trafficking a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of ammo by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, and personal possession of a structure used to traffic controlled substances. According to jail records, he is being held in lieu of a $191,000 bond.
