A man from Georgia is facing many charges after he was arrested in Florida for allegedly stealing from vehicles and occupied residences.
At the beginning of June, an individual was in the vicinity of a single-family housing complex in Doral, Miami, with the alleged intention of swiping items from the residents. The person, who was believed to be a man, was wearing a ski mask as they reportedly strolled through the area. He allegedly tried to open several vehicles, and when he found unlocked ones, he reportedly stole garage door openers and used them to enter the garages of the homes where they were installed.
From one of the houses, the residents, who were home when the alleged intruder entered, reported that electronics, credit cards, and their Kia were taken. Several items were also reported as stolen from multiple additional residences. The suspect allegedly used the reportedly stolen car to leave the area.
The authorities were notified, and they used surveillance footage to locate the man they believed was responsible. They believed he spent a significant amount of money using the credit cards, dropped off the reportedly stolen items at another location, and then left the premises. The police learned the address where he went, and they cuffed him when he came outside.
The man was taken into custody and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He is facing multiple charges for each of the three cases. In total, he is accused of two counts of burglary of an occupied dwelling, two counts of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, one count of second-degree grand theft between $20,000 and $100,000, one count of third-degree grand theft, seven counts of fraudulent use of personal identification, six counts of fraudulent use of a credit card over $100, two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card less than $100, and one count of petit theft. According to facility records, at the time this was written, the suspect was still incarcerated in lieu of an $80,500 bond.
