It was just after midnight on July 21, and a man walked into the convenience store located in Stafford. Based on his behavior, the employees believed he had been drinking. He tried to buy alcohol, but he was told that it was too late for them to sell it. He reportedly became agitated, and before leaving the store he allegedly pulled out a handgun and swung it around.
After he took off, the authorities were notified, and deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office went to the store. The person they believed was the suspect was quickly found traveling in a car with a passenger. A traffic stop was performed, and the driver and passenger were identified as two 30-year-old men from the local area. When the vehicle was searched, the deputies reportedly found a mostly empty bottle of tequila and two guns.
Both men were told they were being arrested, and the driver allegedly started to disrobe while saying disrespectful things to them.
The driver was taken into custody and booked into the Rappahannock Regional Jail on suspicion of two counts of brandishing a firearm, one count of driving under the influence, one count of refusal to submit to a BAC test, one count of failure to wear a seatbelt, and one count of obstruction of justice. According to reports, when he stood before the magistrate, he said he planned to “raise all hell.”
The passenger was arrested without incident, and he is accused of carrying a concealed weapon and failure to wear a seatbelt. He was released a few hours later.
