DUI Suspect Cited Ace Ventura to Explain Actions

Nebraska police have accused a man of driving under the influence after he reportedly crashed a vehicle into a tree stump and a wall on a residential property and credited the incident to his mimicking of a famous Jim Carey film character.

Around 1:00 am on Saturday morning, the driver of a Buick was reported to have navigated off of the road in a manner that caused the car to strike a tree and a barrier in the front yard of a house.

The driver of the vehicle continued his journey without stopping after the accident, and the police took only moments before they arrived at the home where the crash happened.

When the authorities tracked down the man that they believed was responsible for the incident they identified him as 26-year-old Rocky Dumais.

Dumais was allegedly operating a Buick that belongs to his mom when he purportedly navigated it poorly and caused the reported damage, which has been assessed at around $500.

The officers questioned Dumais about the event and he allegedly told them that his windshield wipers were not working causing his view out of the front windshield to become impaired, so he stuck his head out of the driver’s side window “like Ace Ventura.”

Dumais, whose blood-alcohol content allegedly tested at .137, was subsequently taken into custody based on suspicion of DUI, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license.
