A Florida Man wearing a cat costume is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly stabbing his roommate in the neck.
At approximately 5:45 PM on May 23, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office received an alert about a situation involving a man who had been stabbed in the neck by his roommate at a residence in North Gainesville.
Deputies went to the home to investigate, and a dispatcher informed them that the alleged victim was injured so badly that blood was shooting out of the wound.
When they reached the front double doors, one of the deputies kicked through them to get inside. As they entered, law enforcement had their guns drawn, and they began to search for the suspect.
The alleged victim was found badly injured on the floor holding pressure on his wound. It was reported that he said he was unsure whether his roommate was still carrying the knife. He told the deputies that he believed the man was either in the kitchen or in his room.
A deputy started calling out the suspect’s name to encourage him to make himself visible, and when a faint voice was detected, the deputies purported it was him. Since they were unable to understand him, they told the man to come out so they could better hear him.
Moments later, a man walked into the hallway with his hands in the air, and he was dressed in a full bodysuit that looked like a cat costume. The deputies placed him under arrest.
The suspect was booked into the Alachua County Jail. He is expected to be charged with one felony count of attempted murder. He is currently being held in lieu of a $1 million bond.
