Former Ridgeway Postmaster Arrested for Dealing Drugs

An Illinois woman who was arrested on drug charges last year was taken into custody last week for multiple additional narcotics-related offenses.

According to reports, last year on March 11, a woman who was the postmaster of Gallatin County was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine (Class 3), and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A). The 36-year-old woman, who lives in New Haven, was scheduled to appear in court last week regarding those charges. A day before her court date, she found herself again accused of drug-related crimes.

Early in the morning on March 10, the woman was reportedly driving a vehicle without a visible license plate in Mt. Vernon. She caught the attention of officers from the Mt. Vernon Police Department, and they allegedly saw her make a turn without using her signal. They performed a traffic stop, and the woman pulled over without incident.

It was reported that when they approached her vehicle and began talking to her, the officers reported that they believed it looked like the woman was trying to hide something under her clothes. Upon further inspection, they discovered a used pipe that they believed was used for smoking meth. The officers believed they had just cause to search the vehicle, and they allegedly found pills, multiple baggies of meth and fentanyl, and an empty digital scale box.

The woman was taken into custody and booked into the Posey County Jail. She is facing multiple preliminary charges, including felony dealing in methamphetamine (Level 3), felony possession of a narcotic drug (Level 3), felony possession of methamphetamine (Level 3), misdemeanor possession of a Schedule IV drug (Class A), and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia (Class C).
