Library Patron Exposed to Man’s Public Masturbation

While visiting the public library, a woman allegedly caught a man red-handed as he was in the midst of sexually pleasuring himself.

Around 2:30 pm on Friday, a woman was in the Sioux Falls Public Library and walking through the aisles when she allegedly saw a man sitting in a chair who appeared to be masturbating.

The woman reportedly appeared bewildered when the alleged offender made eye contact with her, and he casually said hi to her in response before he placed a sweatshirt over his lap.

When the library staff was made aware of the alleged public display of self-gratification, the police officer that was working in the building was alerted.

The officer went up to the man and reported that it appeared as if his hand was moving up and down underneath the draped sweatshirt, which was concealing too much of him in order to assess whether or not he had his pants undone. The movement was enough to give the officer the impression that the autoeroticism was still ongoing.

When interacting with the man, the officer identified him as 44-year-old Leroy McFarland, who was listed as residing in a local homeless shelter.

McFarland was placed under arrest, and on the way to the police vehicle, it was reported that a sex toy that was assumed to have belonged to him dropped to the ground as he was walking.

The officer conducted a search on McFarland and reported that he was holding two additional sex toys in one of the pockets of his sweatshirt. Upon further inspection, the authorities alleged that the man was also in possession of paraphernalia that appeared as if it was previously used for smoking narcotics.

McFarland was booked into the Woodbury County Jail and held in lieu of a $1,000 bond. He has been slapped with charges for indecent exposure, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
