A few weeks after being released from the Mississippi Department of Corrections following a prior DUI-related case, a 50-year-old man from Decatur, Mississippi, found himself behind bars again for allegedly knocking out his girlfriend’s teeth during a domestic dispute.
According to the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report around 9:30 p.m. of a domestic disturbance in which someone may have been seriously injured. Dispatchers also warned responding deputies that the suspect might be armed.
When the deputies arrived at the location, they attempted to get the man inside the camper on the property to come outside. They said he initially refused but eventually complied, and that he resisted before being restrained and placed under arrest. After being seated in a patrol vehicle, the suspect allegedly continued to behave disruptively by yelling, hitting the interior of the vehicle, and damaging equipment.
The deputies also spoke with the alleged victim. She was described as visibly injured and bleeding, with multiple teeth reportedly knocked out. Emergency medical personnel treated her injuries at the scene, but she did not want to go to the hospital.
During a search of the camper, deputies reportedly found a significant amount of blood on the floor. A shotgun believed to belong to the suspect was also located.
The man is currently being held at the Neshoba County Detention Center on multiple preliminary charges, including simple assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. Investigators said the assault charge could be elevated as the case continues. The authorities are also reviewing whether the arrest may affect the terms of his recent release from state custody.
