A man from Newington is facing charges after he was allegedly caught rubbing his privates against trees in the backyard of a private residence.
36-year-old John Edward Fignar was reportedly wandering around outside in a residential neighborhood while partially clothed around 3:00 pm on November 12.
When a resident noticed someone in their yard, they were reportedly greeted by the sight of Fignar treating their trees in an allegedly disturbing manner.
The man was reportedly thrusting his pelvis against the tree trunks, chewing on the limbs, and yelling loudly.
The dweller called 911 and reported the alleged oddity, and the Naugatuck Police Department sent officers to the address.
Before the officers arrived, Fignar reportedly fled to an adjacent home and entered without permission.
The residents inside allegedly became so frightened by the unexpected visitor that they ran out of their house.
When the officers went to the home in which Fignar was reportedly hiding, the man emerged.
Because of his alleged inappropriate backyard behavior, in addition to the purported break-in, Fignar was placed under arrest.
According to the police report, Fignar became uncooperative and began to spit on and assault the officers.
After the alleged struggle, Fignar was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for an evaluation by the medical staff.
When Fignar was released from the hospital, he was charged with two counts of felony assault of a police officer, one count of misdemeanor second-degree breach of peace, one count of misdemeanor second-degree trespass, and one count of misdemeanor resisting.
Fignar, who is facing charges in two additional criminal cases, was incarcerated on a $25,000 bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court on November 18 for the new charges.
