Man Hid in Trunk of Ex’s Car and Assaulted Her at Gunpoint

A woman’s ex-boyfriend reportedly hid in the trunk of her vehicle with weapons and attacked and threatened to kill her after she began driving on the highway.

A few months ago, 40-year-old Jarrod Rodriguez and his 43-year-old ex-girlfriend ended their relationship. According to the woman, the couple has had a lot of negative interactions since they parted ways.

In the morning on January 27, Rodriguez allegedly crawled into the trunk of his ex-girlfriend’s hatchback vehicle. The woman was unaware of his presence when she got into the car to drive to school.

When the woman began driving on the highway, Rodriguez allegedly climbed out of the hatchback and got in the front passenger seat. According to reports, he had a backpack with a firearm and a knife inside.

The woman reported that Rodriguez started to hit her, and he had the gun pointed at her while he told her where he wanted her to drive. She also said that he told her he would inject her with enough heroin to cause her to die from an overdose.

As Rodriguez’s ex-girlfriend was driving down a local road in Harrison, she found that she had an opportunity to jump out of the vehicle.

The woman began running away, but Rodriguez allegedly followed and hit her several times while he tried to drag her back to the car.

A person in another vehicle on the road saw the altercation and called the authorities to report it.

It was reported that Rodriguez’s ex-girlfriend was able to escape from him, but the man reportedly took her car with her belongings still inside.

When the police found him later in the afternoon, Rodriguez was placed under arrest and booked into jail for suspicion of several felonies including kidnapping, aggravated robbery, assault, and aggravated menacing. He is being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
