Man Raped Women he Baited on Social Media

A teen from Georgia allegedly using several social media platforms to entice at least five women into personal meetings before sexually assaulting them at knifepoint.

18-year-old Demetrius Samuel Roam and his family reside in an apartment in Atlanta.

In the middle of October, the police received several calls from women in their early 20’s accusing Roam of either raping or attempting to rape them.

On October 17, a 20-year-old woman notified the authorities and accused Roam of wielding a knife while trying to rape her.

On October 23, the police received a call from a woman stating that Roam assaulted her, and added that he had a knife during the attack.

According to a spokesperson for the police department, three additional complaints regarding similar assaults were filed, but they have not released the information about them at this time.

The authorities began to look into the claims, and they purported that Roam was using social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat to interact with the women.

After reportedly establishing a personal connection with them, it was asserted that Roam set up face-to-face meetings with them at his apartment before sexually assaulting each of the women.

Roam was taken into custody on October 24, and the police reported that they found items that they suspect belong to the alleged victims.

Roam was booked into the DeKalb County Jail, and no bond was set for his release. He is facing charges for suspicion of rape, kidnapping, aggravated sodomy, and aggravated assault for the allegations against him.

Investigators are still looking into the situation, and they are concerned that there may be undiscovered women that Roam could have victimized.
