Man Upset Over Breakup Tried to Shoot Ex at Her Job

Members of the community have expressed concerns and disdain after an attorney who allegedly entered his ex-girlfriend’s place of employment and tried to shoot her was rapidly released from custody on a bond.

Late in the morning on November 26, at the Anderson Mill Pub in northwest Austin, the bartenders were serving a few customers when a man walked into the establishment.

Some of the customers recognized the man as the recent ex-boyfriend of one of the bartenders who was working a shift that morning.

The man reportedly walked up to the bar and sat down. He placed a satchel on the bar in front of him.

According to reports, the man and the bartender, who were dating for three years, ended their relationship approximately six weeks ago. The man was reportedly having trouble accepting the breakup.

An argument ensued between the man and his ex-girlfriend, and he reportedly stuck his hand into the satchel and removed a handgun. He allegedly aimed the gun at the woman and pulled the trigger.

Two men who were seated at the bar next to the man noticed it when he first took out the gun. They jumped on top of him and knocked him to the ground as the gun went off.

At the same time, the bartender quickly dodged and ran in the other direction. The bullet hit the mirror on the wall behind where she was originally standing.

The gun discharged two more times, but no one was injured.

The police arrived, and they reviewed a surveillance video that they believed supported the narrative they were told by the people in the bar.

The suspect, who is an attorney, was taken into custody and released on a $40,000 bond a couple of days later.

The public has shown concern that the man was released so rapidly on a bond that they deemed was too low for the allegations.

The law office where the man was employed released a statement regarding the situation. He is no longer employed with them.
