New York Man Accused of Stabbing KFC Employee

A 22-year-old New York man was reportedly arrested after he allegedly approached state troopers in Malta and stated that he had just stabbed someone.

Authorities stated that the incident unfolded Sunday night near a shopping center in Malta, New York. A state trooper was reportedly finishing an unrelated traffic stop when the man allegedly ran up and made the statement. The trooper immediately detained him while other law enforcement officers were notified.

Deputies with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office were then dispatched to a nearby Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Malta after receiving information about a possible stabbing. When the deputies arrived at the location, they reportedly found a 34-year-old employee suffering from stab wounds to his chest and arm. The authorities stated that deputies gave aid to the alleged victim at the scene until emergency medical personnel arrived. He was then transported to a hospital for treatment.

According to the authorities, investigators later determined that the suspect had allegedly been outside the restaurant prior to the incident. After the employee completed his shift and exited the business, the suspect allegedly attacked him. Law enforcement officials reported that a knife believed to have been used in the incident was recovered at the scene and taken into evidence.

The suspect was taken into custody on the spot without incident, and he was booked into the Saratoga County Jail. He is facing a preliminary charge of one felony count of attempted murder in the second degree. At the time this was written, sources indicate that the man is still behind bars in lieu of a $400,000 bond, which he may also post as $200,000 cash bail. The investigation is ongoing.

It was reported that the alleged victim is expected to make a full recovery.
