Officer Smacked With Meth During Traffic Stop

When a woman was pulled over for allegedly driving erratically, she reportedly tried to throw a baggie containing methamphetamine out of the window of her vehicle, and it struck the officer.

33-year-old Stephanie Dowdy resides in West Monroe, Louisiana.

On October 19, Dowdy was reportedly driving in a Honda Civic when an officer with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office allegedly saw the car in the middle of two lanes on the street.

The deputy performed a traffic stop, and while walking up to the passenger’s side to speak with the driver of the car, he reportedly felt something hit his leg.

After looking for the offending projectile, the officer reportedly found a baggie containing white crystalline powder. He purported that the contents were approximately half a gram of methamphetamine, and asserted that Dowdy had pitched the drug packet out of the window causing it to collide with his limb.

The officer asked Dowdy about the baggie of powder, and she reportedly stated that it was not hers, and she did not throw it out the window.

According to the police report, Dowdy then changed her statement and said that it belonged to her and she did toss it from the vehicle.

Upon further investigation of her identity, the authorities learned that Dowdy “does not possess a driver’s license nor has she ever been issued a driver’s license.”

Dowdy was placed in handcuffs and taken into custody, and she is facing charges for suspicion of possession of a schedule II substance, obstruction of justice, driving without a license, and improper lane use.

She was booked into the county jail on a $5,300 bond.
