Student Arrested for Alleged Dorm Murder Plot

A Colorado college student was arrested after the authorities were told that he allegedly tried to hire someone to kill a fellow student who lived nearby on campus.

Campus police and state investigators reportedly became involved after concerns arose about the alleged plot. According to reports, the accused student allegedly approached multiple people, offering money in exchange for carrying out the act. The student and the alleged target had known each other previously, but sources say tensions had risen in recent weeks.

The situation came to light when another student, who was approached about the alleged plan, reported it to the authorities. Investigators stated that the accused and the alleged target shared a living space and were teammates on the college football team. A dispute reportedly occurred inside the dorm, during which property was briefly disturbed, though no damage was reported. Afterward, the accused student allegedly made statements while he allegedly held a pair of scissors in a way that was interpreted as threatening.

The authorities reported that the accused then asked the reporting student if they would commit the act for money. That student refused, and the accused reportedly said he knew others who might agree. Investigators also said the accused allegedly communicated with additional individuals via video call and completed a payment transaction related to the alleged plan.

School officials were notified, who then contacted law enforcement. During questioning, the accused reportedly denied the allegations, and officers observed phone activity before legal counsel was requested.

The student was charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon on college grounds. He was released from custody after posting a $50,000 bail.
