Underage UGA Defensive Back Arrested for DUI

According to reports, the University of Georgia’s defensive back was arrested last weekend after allegedly driving dangerously while heavily intoxicated.

20-year-old Javon Bullard is the defensive back for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Just before 3:00 am on September 24, Bullard was reportedly driving a Lexus in Athens.

The University of Georgia campus police reported that they spotted the vehicle without the headlights turned on but noticed what they believed was a cell phone illuminating the inside of the car.

As Bullard turned a corner, he allegedly drove into oncoming traffic. When he tried to right himself and enter the proper lane, he reportedly nearly struck another car.

A traffic stop was performed, and when he was asked for his driver’s license, Bullard reportedly did not have it on him.

When he got out of the car, it was noted that Bullard was chewing gum, but he still smelled like alcohol.

Bullard, who was allegedly struggling to stay on his feet, reportedly told the officer that he had a couple of shots earlier that night.

When his blood-alcohol level was tested by breathalyzer, the test showed values of 0.143 and 0.148.

Bullard was taken into custody and booked just before 5:00 am. He is facing seven misdemeanor charges including DUI, possession of alcoholic beverages by persons under 21 years of age, driving while using an electronic device, driving without headlights, failure to maintain lane, improper turning, and failure to carry and exhibit a driver’s license on demand.

He was released approximately four hours later after posting a $4,250 bond.

The coach released a statement saying that Bullard will go before a “Comprehensive Action Plan” committee as a part of the internal investigation. He also said that he is currently unable to confirm what Bullard’s future on the team will be.
