Waking Up on the Wrong Side of the Bed Inspired Domestic Assault

When a woman found her wife sleeping on the side of the bed that she favors, she allegedly attacked her significant other for the infraction.

33-year-old Ashley Crampton and her wife of three-years were staying in a room at the Budget Inn in Clearwater, Florida, last weekend.

When she spotted her woman asleep on the side of the bed where she typically slumbers Crampton allegedly responded by using her feet to quite literally kick her spouse off of the mattress and onto the floor.

The alleged victim tried to reenter the bed after a few hours had passed, and Crampton, reportedly still in a foul mood from earlier, allegedly hit her wife in the back of the neck with a closed fist.

In another reported effort to mend fences, the alleged victim said she tried to give Crampton a donut, but the act was said to have been denied, and instead met with a slap on the hand causing the pastry to fall to the floor.

Just before 3:00 pm, an officer with the Clearwater Police Department went to the hotel after being notified of a possible domestic dispute.

The officer talked with the women, and the affidavit states that the alleged victim had visible marks on the back of her neck, but Crampton appeared to lack any noticeable injuries.

When talking with Crampton about what had taken place the woman reportedly said that her wife had initiated the fight when she sat upon her and punched her several times. Crampton said she only used physical force in an effort to protect herself.

The officer decided that Crampton was the aggressor in the incident and she was read her rights and placed under arrest. According to the affidavit, the suspect continued to discuss the event and disclosed that she knocked the donut from her wife’s hand.

Crampton was booked at the county jail for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery, and she was released on her own recognizance.
