Women Arrested for Attempted Drug Smuggling Into Jail

Two women were taken into custody after the authorities reportedly intercepted an alleged attempt to deliver illegal narcotics to inmates at the Henderson County Jail.

According to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, investigators had been looking into suspected narcotics trafficking activity in the county in the days leading up to the incident. During that investigation, the authorities reportedly received information indicating that two women from Eustace were planning to bring drugs to the jail on a Saturday morning.

Deputies and narcotics investigators monitored the situation and reportedly intercepted the pair before the suspected drugs could reach the facility. The authorities said the alleged delivery had been disguised as a tube labeled eczema cream.

Investigators later examined the container and reportedly found several small, differently colored balloons that had been individually packaged. The authorities said the balloons were believed to contain a variety of suspected narcotics, including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and several types of illegal pills.

During interviews conducted after the interception, one of the women reportedly admitted that she had methamphetamine in her purse along with a glass pipe. The other woman allegedly told investigators that additional drugs could be found at her residence.

The authorities later searched that home. According to the sheriff’s office, investigators reportedly found materials and packaging that appeared to be used to conceal drugs in the same manner as the items discovered during the attempted jail delivery. The search also allegedly uncovered methamphetamine, marijuana, and THC-infused gummies.

Investigators said the drugs that were intercepted were believed to have been intended for two inmates housed at the Henderson County Jail.

Following the investigation, both women were charged with manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance, engaging in organized criminal activity, and bringing a prohibited substance into a correctional facility. One of the women also faced an additional charge for possession of a controlled substance.

The two inmates were also charged in connection with the alleged scheme in addition to the charges they were already facing. Authorities said one woman was booked on a $300,000 bond, while the other was held on a $250,000 bond.
