A food delivery driver in upstate New York is facing felony charges after reportedly recording and posting a video of a customer who was partially unclothed and apparently unable to wake up.
The situation began during what was believed to be a routine food-delivery assignment. The worker later posted online and expressed that when she arrived at the customer’s residence, the front door was open, and the customer was lying partly nude on a couch in clear view from outside the home. She said she recorded the scene from the doorway or porch area. She then uploaded the footage to her social-media account, where it quickly spread and drew widespread attention.
In the days following the incident, the worker reported that the encounter included sexual misconduct directed at her. She also insisted that she never entered the residence and that she had evidence showing that the door had been open before she arrived, although she had not released that proof. She additionally reported that her delivery-platform account was deactivated after the video circulated, leaving her without the job she relied on for income.
Once authorities began investigating, officers reviewed the footage and interviewed the customer. According to police, the video clearly showed the customer partially naked while unconscious inside the home, and it appeared the recording was made from outside. Investigators stated that the customer cooperated fully, explaining that he had consumed a large amount of alcohol and had no memory of the delivery. The police said they found no indication that any sexual assault had occurred and concluded the customer was passed out while the driver was present.
The worker was charged with felony unlawful surveillance and felony distribution of an unlawful surveillance image. The delivery platform deactivated both parties’ accounts, and the authorities reported that the case remains under review.
