An Oklahoma father was arrested after allegedly causing an accident and fleeing the scene while driving under the influence of alcohol with his infant in the vehicle.
Stephon Hadley was reportedly traveling in his vehicle in Owasso with his infant in the back seat.
During their trip, Hadley allegedly slammed into a truck that was on the same road, allegedly forcing the vehicle off the street and into a trench next to the shoulder.
The Owasso Police Department was notified, and when officers arrived they discussed the situation with the man driving the truck.
He reportedly said that the person who hit his vehicle had been driving over the speed limit and made a hasty lane change, which he believed was the cause of the accident. The alleged victim said the other vehicle then drove away without interacting with him.
Officers were able to locate the vehicle of the man they believed was responsible for the reported hit-and-run, and they performed a traffic stop.
It was reported that when first initiating contact with the driver, identified as Stephon Hadley, he allegedly reeked of spirits and had an infant passenger in the back seat.
Upon speaking with Hadley, the man allegedly told the police that he believed he was in Tulsa, which is approximately 15 miles from Owasso.
The authorities reported that an empty bottle purported to have contained alcohol, along with an open brandy bottle was spotted in the car.
Hadley, whose blood-alcohol content was reportedly assessed to be .27, which is more than three times the legal limit, and he was placed under arrest.
He was booked and incarcerated for suspicion of aggravated DUI, and child endangerment, and it was reported that Hadley had a prior DUI 7-years ago.
