A Florida woman who teaches middle school was reportedly discovered asleep in her vehicle with drugs and paraphernalia laying on the seat next to her.
40-year-old Robin Ramos teaches 6th-grade math to students at Kathleen Middle School in Lakeland.
Just after midnight on January 12, Ramos was reportedly in a Nissan at the RaceTrac food and gas stop located off of Highway 98.
The woman was reportedly asleep in the car when a deputy entered the parking lot, and she noticed that Ramos appeared to be unconscious.
The deputy decided to approach the vehicle to see if Ramos was alright. When she tried to speak with Ramos, she reportedly had to wake her up.
When Ramos was talking to the deputy, she reportedly said that she did not have a valid driver’s license. Ramos reportedly said she was in the car waiting to be retrieved by someone who could take her home.
The deputy checked the vehicle, and it was reported that she located a syringe and a spoon sitting on the passenger’s seat.
When the contents of the hollow instrument and the remnants of a substance on the spoon were field-tested, the deputy reported that a positive result was given for the presence of methamphetamine.
The deputy did not locate any automobile keys in the car during the search.
According to news sources, Ramos chose to discuss the allegedly discovered drugs and paraphernalia with the deputies.
The woman allegedly told the authorities that she rarely uses methamphetamine and that she had not used any that day.
Ramos, who was charged with a DUI last May, was taken into custody.
She was booked into the county jail, and Ramos is facing charges for suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and DUI.
